IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ELECTRONIC DELIVERY
The Terms below apply to your election to receive electronically one or more of the following types/categories of documents related to your 529 account(s): tax reporting forms, account statements and Offering Statement updates, and transaction confirmations. If you don't elect electronic delivery, we will send you paper documents.
How is the consent to electronic delivery applied and how long does it last?
Your consent applies to all documents required for all accounts in The Hartford SMART529 College Savings Plan (the "Plan") registered under your Social Security or taxpayer identification number, including custodial accounts established under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act or the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act. Your consent will be effective until you revoke it or the Plan revokes it.
How will I know when documents are available online?
You'll receive an e-mail notice whenever a new document is available online.
- Account confirmations are generally available online one business day following the activity.
- Account statements are available online approximately 10 days after the end of each statement period.
- Tax reporting forms will be available by January 31.
- To view any document online, type the web address provided in the email into the address line of your browser. Once on the site, type your user name and password, and click to view your "Profile and documents" area. You will then be able to view statements, confirmations, and tax forms.
How are documents retained?
You can download and/or print any documents or request a free paper copy of any document by phone. Requesting a paper copy will not revoke your consent to electronic delivery. The Plan stores statements online for up to 18 months, tax reporting forms for at least 9 months, and transaction and profile confirmations for at least 3 months. The current version of the Offering Statement will always be available online.
What software do I need for electronic delivery?
To view and print the account statements, confirmations, tax reporting documents, Privacy Policies, and Offering Statement documents online, you'll need the latest version of Adobe Reader. If you don't have Adobe Reader, go to www.adobe.com to download it for free.
How do I change my information?
To change your mailing preferences and/or e-mail address or to revoke your election and consent:
- Access your The Hartford SMART529 College Savings Plan account online.
- Click "Profile and documents".
- Click "Delivery Preferences" and submit your changes.
- Important: Please update your email address immediately if it changes.

Are there delivery considerations I should know about?
On rare occasions, e-mails may not transmit properly, your Internet service provider may experience system failure, and other problems may arise.
- If you don't receive an anticipated e-mail notice, go to www.hartfordfunds.com and log on for up-to-date information about your accounts.
- If an e-mail is returned as "undeliverable," we'll change your delivery preference to paper.
- We reserve the right to discontinue electronic delivery at any time.
